- Theology of Ministry with Young People
My hope and goal is to develop a youth ministry where students are given the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and to become deeply committed Christians in and through the context of Christian community. This process involves the acknowledgment of sin and brokenness in our world and invites students to receive God’s forgiveness, grace and love through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As a result, this faith in God should reflect a life that is transformed internally and externally. This continued transformation and shaping takes place in and through the community of youth ministry as students spiritually mature through experiencing life together (small groups, Bible studies, etc). Ultimately, life with Christ should compel students to participate in the redeeming work of His kingdom and allow them to discover ways to serve inside and outside the church. This youth ministry does not limit students’ relationship with Christ within the timeframe of middle school and high school, but instead it prepares and empowers them to live a life devoted to God well beyond the youth group.
- How will connecting with me support your ministry?
A good field guide should respond with promptness and urgency. They should take into account everything that is being communicated and offer advice that is clear, practical and encouraging. Examples are always helpful and should be shared when appropriate and/or necessary. Many questions may require more detail, therefore, the field guide must always be willing to ask more questions to understand the topic better. Ultimately, a good field guide is one who is willing to live into the bigger vision of the church and offer wisdom that seeks to encourage others and allows for ministry to be as effective as possible.
